Only if I serve my neighbour can my eyes be opened to what God does for me and how much he loves me. - Pope Benedict XVI

Christmas 2018

Beloved Community of Sacred Heart Parish and School, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I proclaim news of great joy. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Christ and Lord.” Lk 2:10-12
We live in a world today where, indeed, there is much fear and uncertainties. Some of this is warranted. But sometimes we needlessly let fear get the better of us, and we lose sight of the news of great joy that comes at Christmas time. Our salvation comes into our midst once again not in power, but as a tiny, vulnerable child. And our God, who entrusted our very salvation, in the form of a tiny child, to a poor, wandering couple, will surely watch over us, as well. Christmas is, indeed, Good News, and it puts us in touch with those tender places in our hearts which are moved to ooh and ah at the sight of a newborn babe, the Emmanuel – “God with us.” And so, this Christmas time, in spite of real reasons to be fearful, we invite you to trust in the enormity of God’s love. Receive once again news of great joy, that a tiny babe, vulnerable and small, who has been born into our midst again, is the source of our strength and our salvation. Let us recognize His presence in our midst and in one another, and welcome Him, this day, this season, this year, and always. Wishing you a holy Christmas and a Happy New Year. Fr.
