A Message from Fr. Noel on the Solemnity of the Assumption

For those of you who were born before 1950, you would still remember the pealing of the church bells when Pope Pius XII solemnly defined the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as a dogma of faith on November 1, 1950, in an Apostolic Constitution, Munificentissimus Deus. Here is what the Pope had to say in regard to the Marian dogma:

                 By the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, of the Blessed Apostles Peter and

                 Paul, and by our own authority, we pronounce, declare, and define it to be a

                 divinely revealed dogma: that the Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin

                 Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and
