Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

Each Thursday following the 7:00 a.m. Mass until 12:00 noon and 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., spend some one-on-one time with Our Lord.


Altar Servers

Young parishioners who assist the presider during the liturgy.

Altar Society

This group (mostly ladies, but men are most welcome) takes care of the worship linens, altar candles, and cleaning the church. They meet once a month in the Parish Center Sacred Heart Room for recitation of the rosary at 1:30 p.m. followed by a business meeting. They purchase the altar bread and vestments for the church.

Children’s Liturgy of the World

This ministry shares the Word of God with the young people of our parish at the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass from September to June, with a Children’s Mass every 4th Sunday.

Eucharistic Ministries & Lectors

Assist with distributing the Body and Blood of Christ at Eucharistic celebrations and at communion services. Ministers may also bring the Eucharist to the sick, elderly, and shut-ins at home, in convalescent homes or the hospital. Training is available. Members of this ministry proclaim the word of God during the liturgies. Training is provided

Lay Presiders

During the priests’ retreat, when there would ordinarily be a Mass, Sacred Heart lay people preside at Communion Services (you must be a trained eucharistic minister). Lay presiders also help lead vigil services the night before funerals.

Environment/Decoration

Help plan and arrange environment for liturgical celebrations. Those involved meet in the church whenever needed, such as before Lent, Easter, Advent, and Christmas.

Music Ministries

Music fosters a sense of spirituality and unity at liturgical celebrations. Cantors lead the assembly during the liturgies with the accompaniment of skilled musicians. The choir sings at the 9:00 a.m. Mass and at various special seasonal liturgies. They practice on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the church. Consider lending your voice or instrumental skills.

Sacristan

Prepares the worship space before the liturgies. Duties include: putting out the gifts (bread and wine), preparing the microphone for the priests and lector, laying out the proper vestments and books, etc.

Usher/Greeters

Greet parishioners and guests as they enter the church. Assist in seating, solicit volunteers to bring the gifts to the altar and take up the collection, sometimes help the sacristan to tidy up the church after the liturgy is completed.

Youth Mass

Most of the ministers at the Sunday 5 pm youth mass are taken from the ranks of the teens, including lectors, ushers, altar servers, musicians, and several of the Eucharistic ministers. We are always looking for more volunteers!
