A NOTE FROM FR. ROBBY SULLIVAN,

OUR NEW PAROCHIAL VICAR

Dear Sacred Heart Parish Community, “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom 1: 7). My official name is Robert Sullivan, but I am commonly known as Fr. Robby or Fr. Rob. A native of the Diocese of Monterey, I was born in Santa Cruz and grew up in Watsonville. I am from Irish and Mexican descent, and I am the youngest of four children. From my parents and siblings, I learned the value of faith and the development of a relationship with God, which laid the foundation for my vocation.

Following graduation from the University of Notre Dame in 2004, I joined the Congregation of Holy Cross, a religious community dedicated to being educators in the faith. However, after discerning that I was not called to religious life, I returned to Watsonville, and two years later, became a seminarian in our diocese. …

Pass On the Good News!

What good news? – The Good News of Jesus Christ and our Catholic faith! This fall, over 800 children and young people, preschool through grade 12, will sign up to learn more about Jesus and the Catholic faith. You can help them learn and grow in faith by becoming a catechist for Faith Formation in Sacred Heart Parish. With classes offered Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday you are almost sure to find a time that fits your schedule. As you nurture the faith of our young, you will learn and grow as well! As one long-time catechist put it, “I learn so much from the children!” We provide you with training, materials, and support. Classes begin in October. If interested or for more information, contact the office at 772-8230.

Dear Sacred Heart Parish Community,

A greeting of peace and joy in our Lord Jesus Christ to each of you.

Allow me to introduce myself as a new member of this beautiful community. My name is Louie Bellen. I was born on August 4, 1985 (Feast of St. John Maria Vianney, my favorite Saint). I was raised and educated in the Philippines. I am the sixth of eight siblings and was raised by my relatives from the age of twelve, so I have been a man on the move from a very early age. After high school I entered a religious community and was formed by the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus through temporary vows and a year and a half of theology. The community aspect of religious life continues to be a high value for me. …
